About this site

Hopper on Regulation provides commentary how financial regulation is made, how it works in practice, and how it could work better. The argument running through it is that Britain’s problem is bad regulation, not too much of it.

I am Martyn Hopper. I spent nearly a decade at the Financial Services Authority, twenty in private practice as a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills and Linklaters, and now run Martyn Hopper & Partners, a regulatory advisory boutique.
